Job Fair And Career Tips

1) Gal likely not to be promoted: "Getting on the phone with a customer is not my job."

2) Don't leave home without your resume! Even though we leave in a world of technology you still need a paper resume at the job fair. Employers say some job seekers offer to send them a link to their resume, display their resume on their phone or text them more information about themselves to the employers phone. Employers aren't going to accept these options at a job fair so be sure to have many copies of your printed resume ready to pass out at the event.

3) Companies aren't hiring people. They are hiring solutions to problems. Are you a solution? Or are you a problem?

4) How often to you get to meet 100 hiring managers in one day? Happens all the time at job fairs.

5) Job fairs are the best way to get a job fast. Job fairs vary in size, but you can find many that host 100+ employers who are all hiring. Connecting face to face with decision makers is a must when it comes to getting job interviews and offers; something that online job hunting fails to do, but job fairs naturally facilitate. It would take a job seeker months, if not years, to arrange 100 in person meetings with hiring managers if only conducting an online search. By attending a job fair you can quickly get your resume into the hands of company recruiters and dramatically speed up your job search versus waiting for someone to find your resume online.
