Kate Gosselin Bounced Back
Unemployed reality TV mom used positive attitude to attract success.
(Posted 2012) When Kate Gosselin lost her job as reality TV mom.
Kate Gosselin, of the cancelled TV reality show Kate Plus 8, had
the right attitude for a newly unemployed person back in 2011. That year
The Learning Channel announced it was canceling the TV reality show
Kate Plus 8, and stated, "TLC has decided not to
renew another season of Kate Plus 8. By the end of this season
Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark (including Jon &
Kate Plus 8); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with
Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future."
The right attitude after losing your job.
Gosselin tweeted, "We've had a great run! Six years of whirlwind funfilled
adventures thanks to TLC and our many many supportive &diehard fans! While
it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast
table this morning!), we are looking forward with great anticipation to
our bright future! As is very typical for me, I am choosing to see the
positive in this situation and I am excited to consider the many more
invigorating opportunities that may come my way! I poured my entire self
in2 last 6 yrs of 'Kate+8' & I can't wait2have the chance2challenge myself
again w future endeavors! In the meanX, I hope 2have more
time4motivational speaking, book writing &other fun work opportunities
that come my way... And maybe even some dating??!! We wish our fans well.
And remember, this is not 'goodbye'. I prefer to say 'See you around!'
Losing your job can be an emotional and trying event. It is often tempting
to act out in a negative way, perhaps with bitter words toward your former
employer. It is important to note, however, that those negative actions
can disrupt the focus you need on what is important: getting back to work.
In Gosselin's case she had been focusing on her writing and it continued
to pay off. Wikipedia
says, "Her first book was published in November 2008, titled "Multiple
Blessings." It debuted at number 5 on New York Times Best-Seller list, and
sold over 500,000 copies by the end of 2009. Her second book, "Eight
Little Faces", was released in April 2009, and also debuted at number 5 on
the New York Times Best-Seller list. Her third book, titled "I Just Want
You To Know" was released on April 13, 2010, selling approximately 10,000
copies in its first week and debuting at number 103 on the New York Times
Best-Seller list." Her previous writing experiences and positive
outlook are quite likely what led to her newest job as a contributing blogger on
Getting revenge or getting to work?
In the book
How To Scare The Hell Out Of Unemployment there is a short story as told by
Dan Miller from 48Days.net:
Dan Miller told an interesting story during his May 6, 2011 podcast
about wasted energy on negative emotions. He said that when he was a kid
he was out with a friend who got bit by a snake. Miller stated his gut
reaction was to chase the snake with the intent of finding it and
punishing it. His friend, however, sat down and cut the snake bite with a
knife and sucked out the poison rather than chasing the snake.
Miller compared this experience to others we all face in life. Things,
such as losing a job, happen to us and they feel very unfair. The first
thing we might want to do is lash out in revenge. Nothing good comes from
that. Use the emotional energy you feel in a positive way. Donít waste a
second on sorrow, revenge, or anger. Use that energy to create positive
situations that will support your effort in quickly finding work.
Gosselin's case she may have been very disappointed, sad, angry, etc.
about losing her income from the television show. Her attitude in public
after receiving the news, however, showed other potential employers that
she is the kind of person you would want to work with. In her case her
positive attitude led to a new career online and a brighter future for her
and her children.
