Are you spending or saving?

Three years ago there was a short lived trend taking hold in America. We were all interested in frugality. Spending slowed down dramatically and saving rose. People started cutting back on extras, and looking for ways to get better values.

Apparently, saving money gets old after awhile.  "What Happened To The Savings Rate" posted on ConsumerAffairs.com discusses how spending started to accelerate at the end of 2010. It also discusses the recent tax cut that was passed and what that means for overall spending.

One writer suggested that people where tired of saying no to themselves and felt that they needed rewarded by making new purchases for themselves. It looks like the country is entering the beginning of an economic recovery, however, that doesn't mean it is time for a celebration. Additionally, the history of America demonstrates we will always have periods of expansion and contraction of various intensities.

We will have good days again, and we will have bad. Regardless of what the economy is doing at any particular moment in time we ought to be always be looking to earn more, pay less, get much more value for your money, and avoid financial loss. Of course, you can buy things you want and need just be sure they support your effort to squeeze $1.25 out of every dollar you earn.
