April 26, 2011 We have already discussed the importance of appearance at job interviews, sales calls, and business meetings. It is a fact that there are times when the most qualified candidate will not get a job, but rather it will go to the person with whom the hiring manager feels a chemistry with and who appears to be successful (based on their physical appearance).

528 people were divided into two groups. Both groups viewed pictures of the same 8 people. The pictures of people were exactly the same except for one difference: their teeth. Half of the 528 people viewed pictures before minor cosmetic dentistry, the other half viewed pictures of the same people, but now they had straight, white teeth. The group who viewed the pictures of people with white, healthy looking teeth, as the only difference, ranked each of the 8 people in the pictures higher in the 10 categories you see above.
You've got to see the pictures included in this study! It wasn't even a smile that changed people's opinions, because the people in the pictures are smiling in both the before and after pictures. It is amazing how the appearance of your teeth change people's perception about you!
